Ellie was delighted to receive the BEST DIRECTION AWARD at the Experimental, Dance & Music Film Festival for her dance film, A PLACE FOR US, alongside co-director Leigh-Ann Etsy.

The film stars six dancers from Spielberg’s WEST SIDE STORY performing the “Prologue,” which has only ever been danced by men - until now. Choreography by long-time collaborator Adriana Pierce. Coming soon.

5.30.22 | A PLACE FOR US - WEST SIDE STORY DANCE FILM

Ellie is thrilled to be the co-director and videographer/editor on her latest dance film, A PLACE FOR US, choreographed by long time collaborator Adriana Pierce and danced by six of the cast members of Spielberg’s West Side Story.

In the film, six women dance to the PROLOGUE of the show, a number traditionally danced by male members of the rival gangs, the Jets and Sharks. A PLACE FOR US tells a new story. Co-directed by Leigh-Ann Esty. Coming summer 2023.

4.17.23 | TIME AND TIME AGAIN

Ellie is so proud to be producing TIME AND TIME AGAIN, a collection of short plays being performed at the Chain Theatre in Manhattan May 5-7.

Ellie is delighted to share that her dance film, TWO SLOW DANCERS, was featured in this week’s Friday Film Break in the esteemed publication, Dance Magazine. Here’s what they said:

“Two Slow Dancers,” a film by Ellie Gravitte, “follows two lovers who, despite their dreaming, can’t seem to find their way back to one another,” says Gravitte. Her recent collaboration with choreographer Adriana Pierce, one of Dance Magazine’s 2022 “25 to Watch,” features American Ballet Theatre dancers Remy Young and Sierra Armstrong in a narrative of love and loss as they dance both apart and as partners oscillating between locations like Times Square and New York City parks. The film is set to Mitski’s song of the same name and is part of Pierce’s initiative #QueerTheBallet, which seeks to include more LGBTQ+ voices in classical ballet.

11.21.22 | PRODUCTION WRAP ON “DANNY’S DINER”

Ellie spent the weekend in Bridgeport, CT shooting her latest short film, DANNY’S DINER, written by Mark Ashin and produced by Page 8 Pictures. The film follows two women who plan to burn down the diner where they work until its most loyal patrol walks in.

Ellie is directing and editing the short, which will premiere in early 2023. Starring Carson Earnest, Eddie Kehler, and Victoria Villier.

Ellie’s latest project, TWO SLOW DANCERS, had its premiere screening at FIRST STAGE this week and will be released online before the end of the year. The video was made in collaboration with choreographer Adriana Pierce using Mitski’s hit song, Two Slow Dancers.

Ellie is proud to announce FIRST STAGE, an evening celebrating original artwork that she is producing alongside her partner, Martha Epstein. The night will feature works in process by singer-songwriters, visual artists, playwrights, and filmmakers, including a new dance video that Ellie will screen in collaboration with #QueerTheBallet creator and choreographer Adriana Pierce.

Big news! Ellie is delighted to report that WAY DOWN, the web series she directed, edited, and co-produced last year, will be having its world premiere at NewFest!!!

Ellie has begun pre-production for her upcoming short film, ALL GOOD, with writer-star Emily Adams. The film will be in production this August in New York City, with eyes toward a festival run in 2023 to help sell the feature on which it’s based. 4.24.22 | ELLIE AT THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BROADCASTERS

Ellie was very grateful to be flown to Las Vegas this past week to take part in a panel with Ideas United, a production company with whom she has worked many times, beginning with her commercial for ABC during the ABC Women’s Production Program in 2019.

The panel was about Engaging Emerging Filmmakers to tell Authentic Stories. Ellie was asked to speak about her experience working with Ideas United, as well as the qualities she looks for in her partnerships with brands and production companies.

Ellie is thrilled to finally share the news of her work with ABC!

In June, Ellie was flown out to Prospect Studios in Burbank, CA, along with nine other finalists for the first ever ABC Women’s Initiative. All ten finalists pitched a concept to executives at ABC Entertainment Marketing for one of ABC’s existing television shows. Of the ten pitches, Ellie’s concept was chosen for production, and she went on to direct the commercial on a Hollywood soundstage the following month.

All films will then screen at the Museum of the Moving Image on April 18th.

We are so excited to announce that HER BEING HOME will be featured in Indieworks’ BEST OF FEST this year! Indieworks holds a monthly screening of films made by local NYC filmmakers, and invites the festival winners from each month to return for the annual Best of Fest screening in the spring.

The screening is FREE and will be awarding prizes for Best of Festival, Best Director, Best Ensemble, Best Cinematography, and

DAY ONE was included in a list of nine films to screen at this month’s Refilmery Film Festival, a quarterly screening held in New York City that showcases local filmmakers. We had a great time!

12.18 | SOMEONE LIKE ME PREMIERE

After many months of post-production, we are thrilled to announce our premiere date for SOMEONE LIKE ME, the musical web series pilot episode.

The premiere will be held at Cosmic Fit Club in LIC, Queens on February 10, 2019 at 7pm. There will be live performances from the cast, complimentary refreshments, and the world-wide-premiere of our series pilot. Click the image below for tickets!

Production has wrapped on Ellie’s latest short film! The film follows two young women across several lifetimes as the universe continues to bring them together. Shot by Madeleine Bishop with music by Carlo Ladd. Featuring Sibel Damar and Alexis Floyd.

7.8 | HIP HOP FILM FESTIVAL: BEST DIRECTOR NOMINATION

Ellie has been nominated for BEST DIRECTOR at the Hip Hop Film Festival for her film, HER BEING HOME, which will enjoy its third New York City festival screening this summer.

6.6 | INDIEWORKS "SILVER WHISKERS" AWARD

We are so proud to share our first festival win! HER BEING HOME had its New York City premiere this week at Indie Works' pride-themed screening. We took home the Silver Whiskers Award, which the festival generously awards to their favorite film of the evening. We will be back next April to screen at their BEST OF FEST screening, which will feature all of the Silver Whisker winners from this year's Indie Works events.

Thrilled to share that HER BEING HOME, a short film with original music, has been selected to screen at this year's BROOKLYN WOMEN'S FILM FESTIVAL. We will screen in Program A on Saturday June 23.

5.1 | SHORT ATTENTION SPAN CINEMA at IFC CENTER

NYC Women Filmmakers submitted a collection of short films to screen before the features at the famed IFC Center in lower Manhattan this spring, and we are proud to share that our very own DAY ONE has been selected to play for the final week, June 8-14!

3.9 | FUNDRAISING

We are getting ready to move into production on the pilot episode of a musical web series, written and directed by Ellie Gravitte.
